Celebrate Love

I have two cards to share with you today! Yep, I made it back to my craft table. Yippee!! Unfortunately though,.my printer is out of ink and I print my images when I need them so I have none to hand until I get more ink so my two cards are sans images.

The first card is made with my collection for the month of Feb and that's Basic Grey's "True Love" collection. I adore this herringbone pattern. It's so bright and cheery which is why I made this card a celebration birthday card. The sentiment is inspired by Kool & The Gang's "Celebration". Please excuse the photos, another stock failure on my part is that I've ran out of batteries for my camera – lol. See how everything falls apart when you're not well. The iPhone camera is pretty good though so will suffice for the time being.

Challenges for this card.

My next card is inspired by "A House is not a Home" by Luther Vandross. One of my all time favourite love songs – ever. So what if it's 6+ minutes long? Than man's voice is like chocolate for the ears, without the calories.

I was looking though all of my MME paper scraps (I keep my scraps together by manufacturer) and come across a gorgeous deep and rich woodgrain pattern which reminded me of floorboards. So I wanted to make a CAS moving card with "a house is not a home" kind of sentiment. I finally settled on "Love Makes a House a Home".

The papers on this card are all MME, I just added some  almost dry white chalk ink to the "roof" of the "house" to make it distinguishable from the woodgrain on the back of the card. The alpha stickers were pink but I heat embossed them with woodware white embossing powder and it made them look like they'd been gloss painted which was a complete happy accident! The wood veneers are by studio calico and the gems from stash. The "Love" part of the sentiment is from a stamp set by Papermania.

Challenges for this card

Best Wishes

Another birthday card to share! January is a very busy month for birthdays in mine and DH’s family. I made this card following the sketch over at the Seize the Birthday challenge.

This is the sketch and my card

It’s a feminine card made using papers from the Farm Girl collection by October Afternoon.

The colours are a bit spring like but I wanted something cheery. I knew I wanted to use the flowers from the Farm Girl sticker sheet and the colour scheme grew from there. The sentiment is made up of letter stickers by Fancy Pants and in order to tie in the black of the sentiment, I doodled some lines around the two blocks of paper and added some pearls which I coloured in with a black Promarker.

Re-Working an Idea

Sometimes, when I feel like making a card, but an idea for a layout is not forthcoming, I look through some cards which I have already made and re-work or remake that card. Here’s an example of that.

This is a Jellypark card I made a few weeks ago for the challenge

Princess For a Day

and this is the card I made at the weekend

The layout of the card is similar with the three different patterned papers being used, and the basic elements are roughly in the same place but I’ve used a different colour scheme and have stitched on this card.

Just a quick post on how I get through mojo dips.
